With growing pressure for compact machine designs and optimization of panel space, Allen-Bradley introduces a new series of electronic motor starters – M100. These switches offer a modern response to current industrial demands: minimal size, maximum performance, easy integration, and high operational reliability.

Thanks to their exceptionally slim design – only 22.5 mm or 45 mm wide – the M100 is suitable even for extremely space-saving installations. These devices can be mounted directly next to each other without the need for additional ventilation gaps, which is especially appreciated by machine designers working with a higher number of motors up to 11 kW. Another advantage is the easy scalability – additional motors can be planned already during the design phase without major changes.

One of the key features of the M100 is its versatility. It supports direct starting of both single-phase and three-phase motors, while the optional reversing function allows it to be used in a wide range of applications. All variants share the same external dimensions, design, and configuration method, which simplifies installation and speeds up replacement and maintenance.

In terms of protection, the M100 is equipped with electronic motor overload protection with a class 10 A trip characteristic and an exceptionally wide current adjustment range. This means that only two types of starters are needed to cover the range from 0.75 A to 23 A. This brings significant savings in purchasing, storage, and planning.

Safety is now an essential part of every solution. The M100 also offers advanced functions in this area. The optional Safe Torque Off (STO) safety function ensures safe motor torque disconnection without the need to cut power supply. This eliminates the need for separate safety contactors, reducing space requirements, simplifying wiring, and still meeting the strictest safety standards SIL3 and PLe.

The unique Point-on-Wave (POW) switching technology takes the M100 design even further. Unlike traditional contactors, motor switching is performed at the optimal moment of the sine wave, minimizing contact wear and extending overall device life. The result is not only higher reliability, but also reduced electromagnetic interference.

Another important benefit of the M100 is energy savings. Electronic protection generates significantly less heat loss than traditional bimetal systems, which greatly reduces the need for cooling inside the panel. Simply put, every watt saved in power loss means up to triple the savings in required cooling – and that has a significant impact on operating costs.
